Learning QuickBooks The Easy Way

It's hardly a secret that we're big fans of QuickBooks here at Salt Lake City Bookkeeping. For most small and medium sized businesses, it's a great all-in-one package for taking care of your basic bookkeeping needs without getting bogged down in complex formulas and ledger entries.

However, like all professional-grade software, learning QuickBooks can seem daunting.

It's really not that difficult, but some of the more advanced features can be a bit confusing. So, if you're new to QuickBooks and looking for some tips, here are a few resources you can turn to that should help make learning QuickBooks easy!

  • Just press F1! It's easy to forget, but just like with nearly all modern software, you can bring up the help pages / manual with a simple press of F1. They've got detailed and useful help topics that can step you through just about anything you're trying to do.

  • Intuit's official Learning QuickBooks training software. This can be a good choice if you need to bring several people in an office up to speed with QuickBooks at the same time and want to put on virtual classes.

  • The Official QuickBooks Forums. Intuit has a thriving and highly helpful public message board on their site, which is frequented by power users as well as their own support staff. Any questions can be quickly answered there, and it's the best place to go first if you're having any sort of technical issues with the program.

  • Read a Book! Hey, print isn't dead (yet), and sometimes it's nice to have a book to
thumb through rather than managing multiple windows and programs. Some of the better starter guides include QuickBooks for Dummies, QuickBooks QuickSteps, and QuickBooks - The Missing Manual.

  • Browse our very own QuickBooks Tips blog. In case you somehow missed it, we maintain a blog full of power usage hints and tips for people looking to get the most out of their bookkeeping software.  And besides, we're more fun to read than a manual!

Finally, of course, if you're having trouble with a particular area of QuickBooks, we are certified QuickBooks experts. If you drop us a line, we'll be happy to discuss your needs and see what we can do to help.

So, is there anything we missed? If you know any good resources for learning QuickBooks quickly and easily, drop a note in the message board and let the world know!
