Salt Lake City Bookkeepers, At Your Service

"How do your bookkeeping services work?"  This is usually the first question we hear when we introduce ourselves.  The main goal is to make them understand that at Salt Lake City Bookkeeping, we are at your service around the clock.  That's one of the main benefits of using an outsourced bookkeeping company such as Salt Lake City Bookkeeping.  Knowing that small business owners are working a lot more than the traditional Monday through Friday 40 hour work week, we make sure that we do the same.  We have an understanding of the small business owners constant ebon flow of juggling marketing, management, human resources, payroll, operations, planning, and of course finance. Becasuse of all this we make ourselves available virtually 24/7 to help alleviate stresses that may and will arise.

Let's Get Our Hands Dirty

That's a common response when we are hit with the initial question of "How do your services work?". Each business is unique and we need to assess a handful of variables before we are able to give a monthly rate for our services.  Each business has a lot of similarities such as bank accounts, credit cards, payroll, owner's equity draws, etc.  However, each business may use some areas of bookkeeping that others don't, thus making each business we work with entirely unique from any other business.  For instance, a sushi restaurant doesn't generate invoices for customers so they may not use the Accounts Receivable reporting in QuickBooks. However, they do need to input daily sales reports from their Point Of Sale system. On the other hand, a general contractor may use Accounts Receivable since invoices are generated for customers within QuickBooks and can completely forget about a daily sales report all together.

Since we are based in Salt Lake City, we are able to set up a 60 minute on site meeting with almost any business that is located in the Salt Lake City valley within a few days of being contacted.   This allows for a more detailed proposal since we are able to be on site to go over the current systems and concerns with the owner.  If meeting on site isn't realistic, then we still are able to do the 60 minute meeting remotely using a program such as LogMeIn or GoToMeeting.

One of our many goals during this process is to figure out what current bookkeeping system is in place, identify errors, find out what the owner or manager isn't getting from their current bookkeeper, and then present a proposal that is customized specifically to that business and the owner.

What's Next?

After we sit down with a small business owner in the greater Salt Lake area we then get a proposal sent out within a few business days.  The proposal varies greatly depending on the business' needs.  There are basically three different types of proposals; one that is built to fit a budget, a monthly proposal, or a quarterly proposal.  Budgets dictate what can be afforded and we have no problem working within certain parameters.  However, this may result in the owner or manager doing some of the operations to help us keep the rates as low as possible.  A monthly proposal provides the best service and allows us to be the full time bookkeeper around the clock year round.  Quarterly proposals are designed to help the smaller business that doesn't need the books closed each month and has low cash flow.  The pro of course is the lower rate but the cons are that the books are closed each quarter and recalling transactions from 3 months ago can be tricky for some.
