Every small business wants to rank high on a Google search, but it seems nobody wants to work hard for it. It looks to me like everyone is always trying to trick Google. However, the search engine is smarter than we are, so this makes no sense. Instead we should be trying to please it.

Stop Marketing And Selling? Say It Ain't So

Posted by Matt Roberge on May 21, 2015 7:30:00 AM

As a CEO inevitably you mess up and boy did I ever. In fact I messed up so much that we had to stop selling and marketing (I know the horror!). Our last blog post was almost six weeks ago, but there is a reason for that. Bad CEO's get down on themselves when they screw up or play the blame game. Good CEO's reflect, analyze, pivot and execute. This blog has nothing to do with SEO or attracting new customers; it's simply a business lesson that I hope saves someone some time.

What Does ABC Mean To Modern Day Small Business?

Posted by Joe Mazur on Dec 29, 2014 6:29:00 AM

There are several movies that I often pull clips of and send to our team to get a good chuckle out of them since they pertain to angry people in the business world. Wall Street, Glengarry Glen and Ross, Office Space, Boiler Room, the list goes on and on. The line that always stood out was how they would yell what ABC stands for – "Always Be Closing!" Being submerged in small business bookkeeping and marketing for almost a decade now, I come to realize ABC means much more than that. Instead of always try to close; you should always try to compel, Always Be Compelling! Inbound and content marketing are the two main areas that really drives this idea.

Consistency In Your Small Business Pays Off

Posted by Matt Roberge on Aug 20, 2014 7:00:00 AM

Staying consistent with many different aspects of your small business can really pay off in the long run. I got the idea for this blog when I was fishing a few weeks ago on a particularly good morning. On the morning of July 28, 2014 I was coming off of a week of vacation so I was at my desk early catching up. About 8 am I looked outside to see a blizzard of bugs (good for fly fishing) and went outside to take a look. There were so many bugs I had no choice but to grab my rod and go fish. I had one of the best mornings of fishing of the summer. I continued to fish just about every morning for the two weeks following that and never had the same banner morning. However, I learned a lesson that can benefit your small business; staying consistent can really pay off.

Focus on Growing Your Small Business

Posted by Matt Roberge on Jul 16, 2014 7:00:00 AM

Everyone wants to grow their small business, but some owners can't fully focus on growing their business. It seems like there is always too much to do and never enough time. Growth planning tends to easily get pushed down the schedule as the day to day tasks unfold. Things always seem to come up like the unexpected meeting, emails, phone calls and pressing issues that need to be resolved right away. It is important to focus on growing your small business and to make the adequate time each week to focus on important business issues, not just what is in front of you at the moment.
